Life as I knew it…

I was born in 2000 and my daddy was the National Hunting Retrieving Champion. I was all GO from day one. My human had her work cut out to figure out what I’d do best. One thing was certain…I was part baby termite and part shark.

Fortunately, mom was a dog trainer and nothing I did ever made her give up on me. From my first bowel obstruction at 4 months (it wasn’t my fault someone put gravel underthe BBQ grill) to the many, many, many, adventures I went on, I always made it through and was ready for more.

In 2002 I learned how to scent trail and found a new affinity for sniffing out things that send lots of folks to the slammer. Even after an offer to buy me for a whole lot of money, mom stuck by me and made sure life wasn’t all work.

Playtime was a lot like my job though: dig dig dig, find the ball, find the towel, chase the stick, climb the ladder, search the pile. You name it I could do it and that’s where I got my working name “Bomber”.

Heck one time I searched so long they had to drag me away.

The short of it is, I don’t do anything part way. So when Dr. H told us I had cancer, Mom promised she’d do whatever she could to keep me swimming and loving life, as long as I promised her I’d do my best.

After 3 surgeries in 5 weeks, we got the news that I would have to give up my front leg, if I was going to have a chance. It was a VERY hard decision. I quickly convinced my family and friends, and Dr.H that I could do this.

So this is the start of my new adventure…

READY…
                    SET…
                                   GO!

  1. The bravest girl I know…along with stubborn and outspoken, Sid not her mom ;/ strong and persistent, there was no question she could be the Tasmanian Devil, even with three legs. But best of all…everyone still gets to sit next to her and have the heavy breather remind us that she hasnt changed at all. Love you Sid and know you are being taken care of by the best mom in the world!!!!
